Privacy on spellenplaza.nl

Last updated: 11 October 2026

The short version: spellenplaza.nl has no advertising and no tracking. You can look at everything on this site without an account and without telling us who you are. If you do create an account, we keep only what it needs: a username and a password, plus whatever you choose to post in the Community. Videos play in the YouTube player, which is only loaded when you start a video.

What we do not do

  • You do not need an account. Everything on the site can be seen without one; only posting in the Community needs one.
  • We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
  • We do not run visitor statistics or any other tracking script.
  • We do not sell or share data about visitors.

What the server records

Like almost every website, the web server keeps a log of the pages that are requested. A line in that log contains your IP address, the date and time, the address of the page and the type of browser you use. If you use the search box, your search words are part of the page address and so they end up in that log too.

We use the log only to keep the site working and safe, for example to find an error or to stop abuse. Old log files are deleted automatically.

Cookies

If you only look around, you do not get any cookies from this site.

The site sets one cookie when you open the sign-in or sign-up page, and keeps it while you are signed in. It remembers that you are signed in and protects the forms against misuse. It is not used to follow you. It disappears when you close your browser, or after a month if you ticked "Keep me signed in".

The video player on a game page is made by YouTube, not by us. It is not loaded until you start a video. Once you do, YouTube can store data in your browser. See "Images and videos from other services" below.

Images and videos from other services

  • Game covers. Some cover images come straight from the image server of IGDB, a game database run by Twitch. Your browser fetches those images there, so that server sees your IP address.
  • Video preview images. On the page of a game, the small preview image of each video comes from the image server of YouTube. Your browser fetches those images there, so that server sees your IP address.
  • Videos. The walkthrough videos are on YouTube and play on this site in the YouTube player. That player is not loaded while you browse. It is loaded only when you start a video, by pressing play or by picking an episode. We use the privacy-enhanced version of the player (youtube-nocookie.com). From the moment you start a video, your browser connects to YouTube: YouTube sees your IP address and can store data in your browser, and the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy apply. A link under the player opens the same video on YouTube itself.

If you create an account

An account is free and you choose yourself whether you want one. We store:

  • the username you choose, and a display name (at first the same);
  • your password, only in a scrambled form that cannot be turned back into the password. We cannot read it;
  • your email address, only if you fill it in. It is optional. We use it only to send you a link to confirm the address or to choose a new password. We do not send newsletters;
  • the date you created the account and the last time you signed in;
  • the last time you were on the Community pages while signed in. We use it only to count how many members are online; other visitors see that number, never who it is.

Your display name is shown on the site with what you post in the Community and with something you send in. Your email address is never shown.

To stop people from guessing passwords, the site counts failed sign-in attempts per connection. For that it keeps a scrambled form of your IP address for at most two days. The address itself is not stored with your account.

You can change your display name, password and email address on your account page. You can also delete your account there yourself; it is then removed for good. What you posted in the Community stays, without your name (see below). An account that breaks the terms can be blocked.

If you comment on an episode

Under the list of episodes of a walkthrough, members can leave a comment on that episode. Reading needs no account and sets no cookie. When you comment, we store the text, the date and time, and which episode it belongs to. Comments are public, with your display name next to them. The same rules apply as in the Community: plain text, no personal details, and moderators can hide or remove comments that break the terms. If you delete your account, your comments stay without your name.

If you post in the Community

Members can start topics and reply to them. Reading needs no account and sets no cookie. When you post, we store the title and the text you write, the date and time, and the game you link the topic to. Everything you post is public: anyone can read it, with your display name next to it and the number of posts you wrote. Do not put personal details in a post, yours or someone else's.

Posts are plain text. Each topic counts how often it is opened; that is a number only, we do not record who opened it.

You cannot change or remove a post yourself yet. Want a post changed or removed? Send an email to the address at the bottom of this page. Moderators can hide or remove posts that break the terms.

If you delete your account, your posts stay on the site so that the conversations still make sense, but your name is taken off: they are shown as written by a "Deleted member". If you want the posts themselves removed as well, ask us by email before or after you delete the account.

If you send in a video

People with an upload code can send in a walkthrough video. When you do, we store what you fill in on the form (the game, the title, the type of walkthrough), the name of your file, its size, and the name that belongs to your upload code. We need this to review the video and to show it with the right game.

The video itself is not stored on our server. It is passed on straight away to the YouTube channel of spellenplaza.nl, where it stays private until we have watched and approved it. An approved video is shown on this site with the name that belongs to your upload code.

Want a video or these details removed? Send an email to the address at the bottom of this page and we delete the video from the channel and the details from our database.

YouTube API Services

Videos reach the YouTube channel of spellenplaza.nl through YouTube API Services. This site uses them for two things: to upload videos to its own channel, with the permission of the owner of that channel, and to look up public details of the walkthrough videos it lists (the title, the length and the name of the channel). The video player on a game page is also part of YouTube API Services. You never sign in with Google here, and the site does not read, collect or store data from your Google or YouTube account.

The use of YouTube API Services is covered by the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy. Access that was given to the tool can be withdrawn at any time on the Google security settings page.

Your rights

You can ask us what data we have about you and ask us to correct or delete it. In practice that is the server log described above and, if you have one, your account and what you posted in the Community. You can also file a complaint with the data protection authority in your country. In the Netherlands that is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

Changes

If the site starts doing something new with data, for example when visitor statistics are added, this page is updated first. The date at the top shows the latest change.
